Guildhall Chambers has a number of barristers who specialise in Company Directors Disqualification work.
Our barristers have considerable experience of dealing with proceedings under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986 ("CDDA") and in respect of bankruptcy restrictions orders ("BRO").
All the members of the CDDA team regularly act for the Secretary of State and Official Receiver in prosecuting CDDA and BRO cases. Members of the team also regularly act for and have particular experience in representing respondent directors or bankrupts.
Stephen Davies QC has appeared in the majority of reported cases concerning "fairness" in directors' disqualification litigation and is one of the most experienced barristers in the UK appearing in directors' disqualification trials.
Members of the CDDA team have substantial experience defending directors in CDDA proceedings, during the pre-issue investigation period, drafting representations for public interest reviews to avoid the issue of CDDA proceedings, narrowing or clarifying allegations of unfitness, drafting evidence in defence, defending directors at trial, disposing of CDDA proceedings by way of disqualification undertakings and s. 17 CDDA leave applications.

Stephen Davies QC, Jeremy Bamford and Richard Ascroft have for many years contributed to the leading textbook on CDDA and BRO: Mithani: Directors Disqualification (Butterworths Lexis Nexis) and have presented seminars and written articles on the subject.
