The Employment Tribunal's power to issue various awards is prescribed by various statutory provisions and is often subject to minimum or maximum proscribed amounts. These are amended periodically (in recent years on 6th April).

The applicable rate applies not to the date of assessment but to the prescribed relevant date. It is therefore useful to have available both current rate and past rates.

For ease of reference, we provide here the relevant rates since 2000 for the following categories:

  1. Maximum week’s pay (applicable to many claims),
  2. Maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal;
  3. Minimum basic award for certain unfair dismissal claims (under s.120); and

We have also provided the current rates for various miscellaneous claims.
