Guildhall Chambers quiz night goes down a “sturm” – September 2015

14/09/2015

The first ever Guildhall Chambers Insolvency, Commercial and Property & Estates Quiz Night, held at the Bavarian Beer House, proved a big hit with the 21 teams who attended. Simon Passfield and (Chambers’ very own Mastermind semi-finalist) Ewan Paton set and asked the questions. Hundreds of steins, sausages and shots were consumed, but most teams were still able to answer at least some of the questions on subjects ranging from the shipping forecast to Shakespeare, Geordie Shore and ‘fifteen famous Germans’. The German-themed music round proved a particular challenge, with most teams knowing Nena’s 99 Red Balloons but not Beethoven’s 3rd.

When the beer had been consumed and the music had stopped, the winners were the formidable Meade King, narrowly edging out a host team too polite to win their own quiz, with Clarke Willmott’s litigation team in a creditable 3rd place.

The result was (almost) immaterial to what was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Based on the feedback so far, we will definitely do it again next year. See you then, and Prost! to all those teams who took part.
