New judgement on selective distribution and third party platform bans under EU law

11 Dec, 2017

On 6 December 2017, the EU Court of Justice gave its judgment in Case C-230/16 Coty Germany v Parfümerie Akzente.

The judgment confirms that selective distribution systems designed to preserve a luxury image can be consistent with EU competition law, and can prohibit distributors from selling on third party websites.

Jorren Knibbe has summarised the judgment, and explained its practical consequences, here.
