On Thursday 21 June 2018, Guildhall Chambers provided training to NHS England, Department of Health and Local Government on Care Home Insolvency and Closures.

  • James Wibberley explored the contractual implications of Care Home closures and employment processes, including TUPE.
  • Rebecca Stickler addressed the emergency powers of NHS England and the Secretary of State and how to protect the interests of patients in the event of a Care Home closure
  • Debbie Grennan closed the day by summarising key points for practice and leading a question and answer session.

Attendees included Head and Deputy Head of Legal Services for NHS England, Operational Delivery Director of Specialised Commissioning, Director of Primary Care, Head of Commercial and Procurement, Local Government solicitors and a representative from the Department of Health.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the extent of interaction throughout the afternoon and the interesting points raised by all attendees and look forward to contributing to the developments in this important area.

Many thanks also to Hill Dickinson for kindly hosting the event and the lovely lunch and refreshments provided.
