Areas Of Practice
Guildhall Chambers’ Sports Group provides specialist advocacy and advisory services to the sports sector built on a wealth of experience and knowledge.
The growing intervention of legal procedures and regulation on and off the field has seen “sports law” develop its own recognition as a separate area of specialism. Professional sportsmen and sportswomen, their managers, promoters, clubs and professional bodies are finding that expert legal assistance can provide them with a vital advantage, both on the field and before a tribunal. Guildhall Chambers’ Sports Group provides our clients with the opportunity to obtain that competitive edge, and to assist them in achieving their individual goals.
Our Sports Group believe that sports law is not simply a combination of a number of different areas of law but a unique environment which requires us to modify conventional legal wisdom and, occasionally, to turn it on its head. It is new and exciting work in respect of which there is no substitute for experience. As appears below, our own knowledge and experience is considerable, enabling us to bring a high degree of expertise to the resolution of sports-related disputes.
Chris Quinlan was invited by Clarke Willmott's Sports Team to join them in a discussion on the recent rule changes in Cricket, 'Switch Hitting' and the mandatory 'Tea Delay' in the England v New Zealand match.
