From Monday 1st April pupils, Miriam Manning and Nicholas Evans, will be on their feet and available to take instructions.
Miriam has been shadowing Richard Ascroft and Simon Passfield during her pupillage within our Insolvency & Commercial teams and will be accepting instructions in both these practice areas.
Prior to starting pupillage, Miriam worked as a Court Advocate, appearing in over 500 hearings in county courts on the South Eastern Circuit. Her experience includes small claims trials, bankruptcy petitions, property possession matters, and a wide range of interlocutory applications(including applications for summary judgment, strike out and to set aside judgments). She also undertook noting brief work for experienced barristers in a variety of contentious and sensitive cases.
Nicholas is undertaking a pupillage within our Property & Estates and Commercial teams under the supervision of Michael Selway and Holly Doyle.
Prior to starting pupillage, Nicholas worked as a county court advocate for a national firm. He therefore already has significant experience in hearings involving mortgage possession, landlord and tenant, consumer credit, personal insolvency and small claims (including disputes involving contractual interpretation). Nicholas also attended numerous interlocutory applications, including for summary judgment, strike out and to set aside judgments.
During pupillage, Nicholas has gained a range of experience across his supervisors’ areas of practice, including in real property, landlord and tenant, trusts, wills, inheritance, company law, financial services and insolvency. Nicholas also recently assisted another member in the preparation of a potentially groundbreaking case heard in February in the Court of Appeal (judgment awaited) , which required him to research the complex issue of fencing rights.
He is keen to take instructions in all these areas.
If you would like to discuss instructing Miriam or Nicholas (or any of our other members) please don’t hesitate to contact the relevant Team Clerk below, either by phone on 0117 930 9000 or by email.
