James is a busy junior with a broad Commercial practice and a significant focus on Insolvency work and claims brought by or on behalf of insolvent companies.

He is frequently instructed by officeholders and litigation funders as well as company directors, bankrupts and other insolvency process stakeholders. James has contributed to a number of specialist publications and is a co-author of Insolvency Practitioners: Appointment, Duties, Powers and Liabilities (Edward Elgar Publishing (December 2020).

Expertise

James is frequently instructed in a wide variety of Insolvency related matters arising out of both corporate insolvency and personal bankruptcy. He has considerable experience of matters involving directorial misfeasance and applications under the transaction avoidance provision of the Insolvency Act 1986 as well as causes of action which arise under the economic torts.

James has also acted in a number of complex possession and sale applications of both family home and portfolio properties, sometimes against the backdrop of separate proceeds of crime proceedings and matrimonial proceedings.

Additionally, James has significant experience in applications under the information gathering provisions of the insolvency legislation as well as applications seeking contribution by way of income payments orders.
