Caitlin Evans is a member of the Crime team. She joined Guildhall in October 2021 having completed pupillage in London and became a tenant in March 2022.

Caitlin prosecutes and defends in the Crown Court. She is regularly instructed in cases of violence including domestic violence, drugs, burglaries, theft, witness intimidation and sexual assault. Caitlin has a particular interest in financial crime.

Caitlin is a CPS Grade 3 Panel Advocate. She has experience working as a disclosure junior and advising upon issues of sensitive intelligence and PII.

Featured Crime cases


R v M (2023)

Prosecuted an arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered over 8 days with a large number of civilian and police witnesses. Conducted a voire dire to determine admissibility of a significant comment made.


R v G (2023

Prosecuted a defendant for possession with intent to supply class A drugs who had travelled from London to street deal drugs in Bristol.


R v B, L, M, P, P and L (2023)

Disclosure junior in a six handed murder which had occurred when two groups, one of which was stealing and the other growing cannabis, fought over the cannabis crop.


R v F (2022)

Prosecuted a case of controlling and coercive behaviour, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating committed in a domestic context against the defendant’s wife and child.


R v G (2022)

Defended a non-dwelling burglary in which the defendant accepted handling the goods stolen but denied being involved in the original burglary.


R v F (2021)

Supply of Class A drugs ‘county lines’ case. Trial counsel for D1 in a two-day, two-handed Newton hearing, in which the defence contested the roles of the defendants and the quantities involved. The Judge accepted that there was a margin of error in the Crown’s calculations in relation to the amount supplied and sentenced in a lower bracket.


R v B (2021)

Defended a 16 year old alleged to have robbed a 15-year old in a knife point robbery. Both youths were deemed vulnerable and had to be communicated with in an appropriate and sensitive manner.

Featured Fraud and Financial Crime cases


R v B (2022)

Defended a social worker facing a 17-count indictment of fraud and theft. Alleged to have fraudulently claimed expenses on behalf of her clients and misappropriated their allowances. Large amount of unused material which required extensive analysis to determine work patterns, spending and the failures of the Crown’s conclusions.


R v F (2022)

Prosecuted a man accused of securing funds from his long-term partner under false pretences. Required close analysis of his financial spending. Indictment re-drafted with required specificity to secure resolution without trial.
