We’re delighted to announce that Sophie Walmsley has accepted an offer of tenancy with our PI and Clinical Negligence teams here at Guildhall Chambers, following successful completion of her specialist pupillage under the supervision of Oliver Moore.
Sophie studied law at the University of Manchester and then went on to complete an LLM in Healthcare Law and Ethics and was awarded a Distinction. Whilst at university, Sophie represented the University of Manchester and was the joint winner of the Oxford University Press/BPP National Mooting Competition (2016).
Before starting pupillage, Sophie was a fee earner in a law firm where she had a busy caseload which involved a variety of personal injury claims including those processed through the MOJ Portal. She also worked at a large international law firm which was on the panel for NHS Resolution. In this role, she was seconded to an NHS Trust to work within their legal services department and during her time there Sophie gained experience of dealing with a variety of legal issues in the clinical setting including inquests, DATIX incidents and clinical claims.
During the course of her pupillage, Sophie regularly appeared in the county court dealing with fast track trials, interlocutory hearings and small claims hearings including credit hire. Sophie gained extensive experience in the fields of personal injury and clinical negligence throughout her pupillage and continues to build a busy personal injury practice.
