Property Breakfast Bites - 8th September 2022

8 Sep, 2022

Take notice!

Some recent caselaw and upcoming changes in landlord and tenant law.

William will speak about his recent case of Thomas v Turner [2022] EWHC 1239 (Ch) in which the Court of Appeal will hear a second appeal in October. The judges decided that a landlord’s notice to quit was valid despite being addressed to the previous tenant and not to his company to which he had assigned the tenancy 4 days before the notice was served.

Michael will consider the white paper published just last month on the government’s plans for the private rented sector – including the abolition of ‘no fault’ evictions pursuant to Section 21 notices – as well as reforms due to come into force in Wales before the end of the year
