Sam Jones successfully defends the oldest man in English legal history to stand trial

31/10/2016

Sam Jones of Guildhall Chambers (led by a Richard Jory Q.C. of 9-12 Bell Yard) has successfully defended the oldest man in English legal history to stand trial. The defendant (aged 97) was tried for alleged historic sexual offending dating back as far as the 1950’s. Following a series of Crown Court trials he was acquitted, before the case was ultimately stayed following a successful defence abuse of process application.

Sam discusses in an article published in this month’s edition of Counsel Magazine (co-authored with Richard) whether it is time to consider if it is ever too late to prosecute cases of this sort.
