There is a designated on-street disabled parking bay located on Broad Street immediately outside Chambers.
Public car parks nearby include The Galleries and NCP Rupert Street Car Park. Both of these facilities include dedicated accessible parking spaces.
Pavements on the approach generally have dropped kerbs with tactile warnings adjacent. Pedestrian approach along the south side of Broad Street (i.e., the side on which Chambers is located) will be easier for disabled users as there are no side roads for users to cross along the route, and there is generally less street furniture.
Chambers is accommodated in an historic building, and the main entrance point has three steps up from street level. Visitors will need to call for access beyond the inner lobby area using a videophone system. A member of our reception team will meet you and assist in showing you to your appointment.
There is an alternative entrance for wheelchair users. This is via the Bristol City Council Registry Office entrance, which is next door to Chambers. The wheelchair accessible route involves access via an entrance door into Chambers, which is not in regular use. This route involves traversing a single step, which is overcome by deploying a portable ramp. Reception staff in Chambers will assist wheelchair users in navigating this route.
As we operate an appointment system for visitors, reception staff will expect the arrival of all visitors, and staff will be happy to provide any assistance necessary.
An accessible toilet facility is provided off the entrance lobby area. This is a corner layout WC, with the WC in the left-hand corner (when facing the WC). A range of grabrails are provided in accordance with standard configurations. A hand-rinse basin is provided within reach of the WC. The wheelchair transfer space beside the WC is restricted in width and this may not be adequate for a wheelchair user to perform a sideways transfer onto the WC.
Chambers includes a suite of conference rooms at ground floor level.
The larger rooms provide sufficient turning and manoeuvring space for wheelchair users.
Sound-enhancement systems to benefit use of the conference facilities by people with hearing impairments are currently being considered and it is expected that these will be available shortly.
Any bus that stops at the centre is a short walk away.
Buses 1, 2 90, 91, 92, 512, 668, 672 and X54 also stop nearby on Union Street and Wine Street.
Bristol Temple Meads station is a 15-minute walk from Chambers.
There are many parking facilities nearby.
The Gallery car park and NCP car parks on Nelson Street, Queen Charlotte Street and Rupert Street are all within a five-minute walk.
Welsh Back and Castle Park landings are both just a five-minute walk from Chambers.
