Sam Jones successfully prosecutes three companies under Construction Regulations 2015

25/10/2023

Sam Jones, acting on behalf of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), successfully prosecutes three companies under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

Three companies have been sentenced for their respective failings in the management of a construction project at a hotel in Dorset. A three year old girl was seriously injured when a slate fell from a roof and struck her during a construction project at the Moonfleet Manor Hotel, near Chesil Beach.

Following a four week trial at Bournemouth Crown Court, each of the three companies involved, LFH Limited (as the client, and hotel owner), Rocare Building Services Limited (as the Principal Contractor) and Quadra Built Environment Consultancy Limited (as the Principal Designer) were convicted and sentenced yesterday. They collectively received fines (together with awards for prosecution costs) in excess of £600,000.
