There will be a particular focus on developments in the case law concerning how a person’s right to liberty under Article 5 ECHR may be protected following the landmark decision of Cheshire West and Chester Council v P [2014] UKSC 19. Topics will include:

  • Deprivation of liberty – where have we got to and what next?
  • Children and deprivation of liberty
  • Practical steps to bringing claims under the HRA 1998 in the Court of Protection – procedure and remedies
