Guildhall Chambers are one of the sponsors supporting DAC Beachcroft employees riding from Bristol to Paris raising £1000 00 for Above and Beyond, a local charity that raises funds for the hospitals that sit within University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.
The DAC Beachcroft team forms part of 77 cyclists who will take part in the 430 kilometre ride from Bristol to Paris, facing 12,000 feet of hills and aiming to raise £100,000 for the Major Trauma and Rehabilitation Unit at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
The riders will set off from Ashton Court before passing the Bristol Royal Infirmary on 28th April with 430 kilometres ahead of them, spending two days cycling through English countryside before reaching Portsmouth. They then set sail with France in sight and will pedal for two more days before arriving at the Eiffel Tower on Monday 1st May.
The funds raised will be used to create an oasis garden and build a rehabilitation kitchen for the Children’s Major Trauma and Rehabilitation Unit. The unit cares for many children from across the South West suffering from traumatic brain injuries, brain tumors, epilepsy and cerebral palsy.
The DAC Beachcroft team’s fundraising total currently stands at £53,296.37 and there is still time to donate.
Kevin Hawthorn, team member and partner in DAC Beachcroft’s Bristol office, said: “The team has pulled out all the stops in terms of fundraising ideas and we are delighted to have already raised in excess of £50,000 for a fantastic local cause. We’re looking forward to putting the relentless winter training to the test when we set off for Paris this Friday.”
“We’d like to thank all those who have supported us, especially our incredible shirt sponsors, who include Guildhall Chambers. The money raised will make a real difference to the children at the unit and we’re delighted to have the support of Guildhall Chambers to be able to help them on their road to recovery.”
Progress of the ride can be followed on Above & Beyond’s social media:
