We have adopted a specialist team approach to our practices for many years. We feel that this is the way our clients want us to work, and that specialisation leads to the provision of a better service.

We are very excited to announce publication of our book ‘Practical Advocacy in the Crown Court’ written by members of Guildhall Chambers’ Crime Team. Advocacy is what we do!
The book draws on the expertise accumulated from the whole team, from those who have most recently dealt with procedural wrinkles in Crown Court appeals, to our most senior members, distilling their wisdom on how to handle witnesses, make legal submissions effectively, and persuade judges and juries alike. We have written a book which we hope will assist students, junior barristers and solicitor advocates as well as those more seasoned advocates in the Crown Court.
In chronological format it deals with all aspects of advocacy – oral and written, formal and informal – from the first meeting with a client through to sentence. To help busy advocates, references are included at the start of each chapter which cover procedure, the code of conduct and key cases. The emphasis is very much on practical advice, with quick reference lists of ‘do’s and don’ts’, as well more detailed guidance on understanding your role and developing your own style.
Written during lockdown, it is a handy, informative and (we hope) stimulating read.
