Insolvency Webinar Series 2020

06/10/2020

On 20 May 2020, the Government published the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill 2020, which represents the most significant insolvency reform for 20 years. The principal purpose of this legislation is twofold.
First, it effects permanent changes which have been anticipated since 2018 by introducing two new insolvency procedures and providing greater protection of supplies of goods and services in insolvency.Second, it introduces a number of temporary measures which have been trailed by the Government in recent weeks designed to tackle the effects of Covid 19 (including restrictions on winding-up proceedings and the suspension of liability for wrongful trading).

The Bill is expected to pass the House of Commons on 3 June 2020 and be enacted shortly thereafter.

As part of our new webinar series, Guildhall Chambers’ specialist Insolvency Team will be providing essential expert guidance on these legislative changes over two webinars.
