23/01/2026

Sam Jones has successfully prosecuted a defendant for offences of requiring a person to perform forced or compulsory labour, false imprisonment and multiple assaults.

The case involved the keeping of a vulnerable woman with learning disabilities imprisoned at the defendant’s home for over 20 years. The victim was regularly beaten, had her head shaved and was denied food. The Modern Slavery offences involved her being forced to sweep and clean the floors, daily, under threat of violence.

The defendant was convicted by a jury after a 13-day trial at Gloucester Crown Court. She will be sentenced in March 2026.
